Mr. Kevin Smith Named Employee of the Quarter

Kenansville, North Carolina - May 14, 2024- Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting was held in the O.P. Johnson Board of Education building. During this meeting, Mr. Kevin Smith was named Employee of the Quarter for Duplin County Schools.
Board Chairman, Mr. Brent Davis, commended Mr. Smith for his 21 years of service to Duplin County Schools. In 2003, Mr. Smith accepted the role of Interim Math Teacher at Wallace-Rose Hill High School. Since then he has served in various positions including, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director, Special Advisor, and now serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Innovation and Accountability. Mr. Smith currently leads the Educational Innovation/Accountability Department and plays a key role in Crisis Management and Prevention. 
Chairman Davis shared, “Over the years, Mr. Smith has faithfully served the students and staff of this district and he continues to be an invaluable member of our school family and the entire DCS community. He genuinely supports the district vision and the DCS strategic direction. On behalf of the Board of Education it is with great honor tonight, to present Mr. Kevin Smith with Employee of the Quarter for Duplin County Schools.”
After accepting his plaque, Mr. Smith thanked the Board of Education and Dr. Obasohan for the opportunity to serve students everyday. He shared, “There are tremendous leaders all across the district everyday serving our students and it is a pleasure to serve with them.” Mr. Smith went on to thank his family, who were in attendance, for all of their support.
