Board Appreciation 2025

Kenansville, NC - January 14, 2025 - At this month’s Duplin County Schools Board of Education meeting, the district celebrated Board Appreciation Month with heartfelt tributes and meaningful presentations to honor the board members’ dedication and service.

The meeting began with a student-led prayer by Ms. Emma Wallace of B.F. Grady Elementary, setting a reflective and respectful tone. As part of the celebration, board members were presented with a white orchid and a unique piece of student-created artwork symbolizing the district’s shared vision of being one family. These gifts served as a reminder of the healthy, vibrant, and thriving environment the board strives to foster for students, staff, and the entire community.

Board members also shared their personal connections to the county, highlighting their deep ties to the community and unwavering commitment to the betterment of the school system. Their responses reflected a shared vision of supporting innovation, nurturing student potential, and ensuring a cohesive approach to district goals.

Board Chair Davis noted, “All members of this board are deeply invested in the success of Duplin County, its schools, and its students.”

Superintendent Dr. Obasohan expressed gratitude for the board's efforts, saying, “Our students and staff recognize all that the board does to make our schools places of opportunity and growth. Your leadership and focus on the future of education in our district do not go unnoticed.”

The evening’s events underscored the board’s cohesion, commitment, and focus on innovation, leaving no doubt about their dedication to achieving the district's vision of becoming an exemplary school system for all students.
