Kenansville, NC - On December 12th, Chinquapin Elementary students proudly represented Duplin County Schools at the Hour of Code Expo in Raleigh, an event sponsored by NCDPI and the NC Technology Student Association. Twenty-six talented students showcased their innovative projects, highlighting the creativity and skills they’ve developed this semester.
Eighth-grade students demonstrated impressive micro:bit projects from their CS10 course, while AIG fourth graders presented interactive posters about North Carolina created with Makey Makey and Scratch. Additionally, AIG fifth graders partnered with first graders to design and code a map for Indi Sphero Cars to navigate, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
The students’ hard work earned numerous compliments from attendees, and their projects were a testament to the power of computer science education. We are so grateful for the opportunity to participate in this event and to celebrate our students' incredible achievements," said Amelia Bellomy, CTE teacher at Chinquapin Elementary, who worked closely with the students on their projects.
