During Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting, Lily Stringer, a senior at North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School, was honored as a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Nominee for the 2024 Presidential Scholars Program. Lily will serve as a state nominee for the next round of the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. This distinction places Lily among the state’s most accomplished students, recognizing her outstanding scholarship qualities in the General Education category.
Established in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored more than 8,000 high school seniors and works to recognize and honor outstanding seniors and encourage high attainment among all students.
Nicole Murray, Chief Officer for STEAMA Curriculum and Instruction/Professional Development, presented Lily with a recognition certificate and shared, “Lily represents the best of North Carolina’s students based on outstanding scholarship qualities. We are proud of her hard work and dedication and wish her the best of luck as she moves on to the national level of competition.”
