Kenansville, NC - Duplin County Schools is proud to announce that two outstanding students have been selected to attend the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s School this summer. Governor’s School is a four-week residential program for gifted and talented high school students, offering intensive study in a chosen academic discipline and designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and leadership. Students are selected through a highly competitive process after being nominated by their school district.

Eduardo Gonzales, a student at Wallace-Rose Hill High School and the son of Isis Yanez and Eduardo Gonzales, will attend the Governor’s School West program at Greensboro College, where he will study Social Sciences.

Maya Smith, a student at Duplin Early College High School and the daughter of Sarah Marinelli and Jamal Smith, has been selected to attend the Governor’s School East program at Meredith College, where she will focus on Natural Sciences.

We congratulate these students and their families on this impressive accomplishment and wish them a summer full of growth, discovery, and inspiration.
